3..2..1... lift off!
I know that I haven’t really kept this place up to date but I still had to do some regular maintenance work and even upgrade to newer Kirby versions (which also come with a new license to pay for major releases). In order to keep work to an absolute minimum, I knew one way would be to create a static site or go back to an idea I had in the past: Astro.
The beauty of Astro is that in the end it’s still mostly a static site with some javascript sprinkles. The whole thing is a bunch of markdown files with images which get built into minified html and that makes it blazing fast🔥. Everything is run on the client, even the search, I’ve never seen a search with an index of almost 1000 entries that fast. The only server side stuff is the Latest Movies, Latest Episodes part.
Since I’m lazy, I didn’t have the energy to do a complete port from Kirby to Astro myself, so I did what pretty much anyone these days does, I used Claude and just sat there, instructed Claude, corrected Claude, screamed at Claude until it was done.
So I just built the whole thing locally, run a script to rsync everything to the server and commit changes to GitHub. It’s quite nice actually.
Will I start writing more again now? hardly, but I surprised myself a few times in the past, maybe I’ll surprise myself again and do the opposite of what I planned.
